Lone Star Bend is now open!
Bois d’Arc Road/Lone Star Bend Connection Completed
The connection between Bois d’Arc Road and Lone Star Bend is now complete and open for traffic. This long-awaited connection will provide Walden residents easier access to the City of Montgomery. The $1.5 million road construction was funded by Commissioner Mike Meador using his 2017 County Road Bonds. Civil engineering was done by Jones|Carter and was constructed by Smith and Company Contractors. The road was opened to traffic on May 9th.
The connection now provides direct access from Walden Road to Lone Star Parkway near the intersection of FM 2854 and State Highway 105. The route allows drivers to avoid three traffic lights to reach the terminus of State Highway 105 and FM 2854. The traffic lights avoided are Freeport Drive, State Highway 105 and Walton Road and Stewart Creek Road and State Highway 105. The distance from the Walden Road/Bois d’Arc intersection to State Highway 105 and FM 2854 intersection via Lone Star Bend is 2.1 miles. The distance between Walden Road/Bois d’Arc Road intersection to State Highway 105 and FM 2854 intersection via State Highway 105 is 2.3 miles.
“The connection has been in the area street plans for approximately ten years”, City Administrator Jack Yates said. “My understanding is that the intent was to connect the Walden area to the Montgomery area and to make a more direct and safer access to FM 2854 and western State Highway 105 via this route”, Yates added.
The Bois d’Arc Road and Walden Road intersection portion of the road is in the city of Conroe, the western majority of Bois d’Arc Road is in Montgomery County, Precinct One, under County Commissioner Mike Meador. The Lone Star Bend portion of the road is on the eastern boundary of The Villas of Mia Lago, Section Two subdivision, now in development within the city of Montgomery. The new connection will also allow a more direct, lower amount of traffic connection for Walden area residents to the new Kroger Marketplace shopping area in Montgomery.
